Gold Star Spouses Day

Today, April 5th, is Gold Star Spouses Day. Here is a little bit about this important day, why it matters, and some things you can do to help support other military spouses and families on this day.

I want to bring some awareness to this important day and extend my gratitude as well. For those who may not know, a Gold Star Spouse is a spouse whose husband or wife passed away while serving in the U.S. Military- they are the survivors of the fallen Soldier. This is not something any military spouse strives to become, yet is one they are aware could unfortunately happen any time. Gold Star Spouses day began being observed in 2010 and is a day that can bring awareness to the sacrifices that Gold Star families make, the grief they face, programs available to them, and ways everyone can support them.

If you are a Gold Star Spouse, my prayers are for you today. My gratitude extends EVERY day. I don't have the right words to say but I will show in my daily actions my gratitude in the way I appreciate the freedoms our military grants us, the way I myself support my own husband in uniform, and spreading awareness where I can. If you are a military spouse reading this, I’m sure I don’t even have to encourage you to- but hold your service member a little closer today and remember how blessed you are to have them in your life. Maybe this is a reminder to let the little things go (or the big things, like how challenging it can be during PCS season or a deployment) and appreciate your loved one in the service even more today.

If you are moved to take some action today- some ways you can take action today to support Gold Star families that I can say I have personally done myself are:

⭐️Donate money directly or purchase from the Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation - they provide post-mishap support for the AVIATION Community and their families specifically.

⭐️Purchase merchandise available through Brotallion for various fallen service members in the aviation community available and the proceeds go to the respective foundations/families.
